Action:
Survey for population and distribution;
Increase public awareness;
Encourage Hedgehog friendly environments.

Survey population in Barnsley;
Raise awareness of Water Vole and Mink  trapping in upland areas;
Identify  new sites and create offline habitats and refuges.

Recruit more bat workers in Barnsley;
Protect existing valuable habitats;
Continue to survey known roosts;
Survey River Dearne for feeding areas and additional roost sites;
Investigate possible bridge roost site for Daubenton’s Bat.

Improve and create habitat;

Action:
A  population and mapping survey;
Mapping survey of DEFRA stewardship schemes;
Encourage landowners to take up stewardship schemes.
All these species have declined and need
protection. Their national and local status is outlined in the new BAP which will be attached to this website in the future.
