Harvest Mouse Distribution in Barnsley

Harvest Mice in Barnsley have mainly been recorded in wetland areas, in Barnsley, often in Reed Canary Grass (Phalaris arundceina) in marshy areas and alongside ditches and dykes.

They may also be found in other areas with tall grasses such as road side verges, field margins and hedgerow banks and rough grassland elsewhere. They have never been found in upland areas nor in fact recorded west of the M1.
